Raspberry Pi 4 - 8GB RAM version and 64-bit OS - Why?

Raspberry Pi 4 - 8GB RAM version and 64-bit OS - Why?
Raspberry Pi 4 - 8GB RAM version is announced costs 75 Dollars making it most expensive of their inventory.

But, What makes 8GB version special - When it comes to general stage of computers, currently X86 and X64 boards are getting out dated.

So, slowly CISC(Complex Instructions Set Computing) is getting down and RISC(Reduced Instruction Set Computing) rising its bar.

CISC - 24v power - hence battery looks different, RISC - 5v or 3.7 or 3.3 - very easy to operate.

The Technology world slowly shifting towards the ARM versions. but, not just this idea helps for 8GB of Raspberry pi as it already has a 4GB RAM variant.

The introduction of ARM processors, which is ARM Cortex-1 makes a wild break through in performance in ratio to price.

So, it enables a complete new 64-bit kernel, also few days back Raspberry pi introduced USB boot which provides direct fight with Desktop computers with respect to Graphics driver.

Already, few 64-bit operating system are available for Raspberry pi like- Manjaro, Ubuntu, Gentoo.

We all knew the power of IoT and AI in raspberry pi - with new 12Megapixel camera will turn OpenCV world into reality.

Cameras will become eyes for Machines and detect objects or anything and process like humans to take action. This will lead to low cost hardware and high cost software.

To process all these, Raspberry pi 8GB RAM version becomes an important tool.

But, Raspberry pi 4 is still ARM cortex 72

let's take it in specs,
  • Broadcom BCM2711, Quad core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz
  • 2GB, 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4-3200 SDRAM (depending on model)
  • 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, BLE
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • 2 USB 3.0 ports; 2 USB 2.0 ports.
  • Raspberry Pi standard 40 pin GPIO header (fully backwards compatible with previous boards)
  • 2 × micro-HDMI ports (up to 4kp60 supported)
  • 2-lane MIPI DSI display port
  • 2-lane MIPI CSI camera port
  • 4-pole stereo audio and composite video port
  • H.265 (4kp60 decode), H264 (1080p60 decode, 1080p30 encode)
  • OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics
  • Micro-SD card slot for loading operating system and data storage
  • 5V DC via USB-C connector (minimum 3A*)
  • 5V DC via GPIO header (minimum 3A*)
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled (requires separate PoE HAT)
  • Operating temperature: 0 – 50 degrees C ambient
